HMI design

In the industrial automation world, we typically don’t have the luxury of having a separate person for the design, programming, and testing of Human-Machine Interfaces. A typical engineer tasked with the job has likely had no formal education or training whatsoever when it comes to modern UI/UX. He is given no clear specification or expectation but instead is also tasked with designing electrical schematics, programming the actual machine logic and motion, robotics, vision, installation, support.. the list goes on. Due to everything mentioned so far, we get some very interesting results.

Please take a moment to do a quick image search and you’ll see what I mean. It’s like every modern human interface design guideline is purposely ignored.
